Well Pump Pro Water Treatment

Your water is telling you something.

Odors, stains, unusual tastes, damaged plumbing and uncomfortable skin or hair are clues. We listen to what you are experiencing, test the water and select treatment based on evidence—not guesswork.

Start with what you notice

What is wrong with your water?

Choose the symptom that concerns you most. These observations help narrow the possibilities, but a symptom alone is not a diagnosis. Water chemistry, plumbing materials, flow rate and existing equipment all affect the correct solution.

We will show you the questions we ask, what we may test and which treatment paths could be considered.

Questions we askWhat do you see, smell, taste or feel—and when does it happen?
What we investigateThe source, plumbing, water chemistry, flow requirements and existing equipment.
Potential treatment pathTesting determines whether treatment is needed and which equipment actually fits.

This guide describes possible causes and treatment paths. It is not a substitute for water testing or an on-site system evaluation.

Professional field analysis

We test instead of guessing.

Well Pump Pro uses professional Hach test kits and field instruments and evaluates the complaint in the context of the well, pressure system, plumbing and treatment equipment. Sometimes the evidence points to water treatment. Sometimes it points somewhere else—and we will tell you.

Pinhole leaks are a good example: low pH, low alkalinity or aggressive carbon dioxide may contribute, but electrical grounding and stray-current conditions may also deserve investigation. Selling unnecessary treatment equipment will not correct an electrical corrosion problem.

TDS means total dissolved solids. Dissolved oxygen is reported separately as DO. On-site analysis guides equipment decisions; bacteria, PFAS and other health-related contaminants require appropriate laboratory testing.

Sediment & Mica Filtration
Used for: visible particles, sand, silt and mica. Cartridge size and micron rating are selected to balance filtration with service life. A 50-micron cartridge is often a practical starting point for mica and general well sediment, but the application controls the final choice.
Acid Neutralization & CO₂ Removal
Used for: low-pH or corrosive water. We consider pH, alkalinity, carbon dioxide, hardness and flow. High carbon dioxide may call for aeration or CO₂ removal rather than relying only on additional neutralizing mineral.
Water Softening
Used for: hardness scale, soap inefficiency and mineral buildup. We size the system from hardness, household demand and service flow—not merely the number of bathrooms. Softening does not disinfect water and is not a substitute for contaminant-specific treatment.
Iron & Manganese Removal
Used for: brown, orange or black staining and metallic taste. Media such as Katalox Light, Greensand Plus or Birm operate under different water-chemistry and oxidation conditions. pH, oxygen, iron type, manganese and available backwash flow determine the choice.
Sulfur & Ozone/AIO Treatment
Used for: hydrogen-sulfide odor and certain iron or manganese conditions. Ozone or air-assisted oxidation may be appropriate when properly sized. We first separate a source-water odor from sulfur bacteria or a hot-water-heater problem.
Carbon Filtration
Used for: chlorine, tastes, odors and certain organic compounds. Cartridge, tank and media selection depend on the target contaminant and flow. Carbon has a finite capacity and requires scheduled replacement or service.
Ultraviolet Disinfection
Used for: microbiological disinfection after appropriate testing and pretreatment. UV performance depends on adequate clarity, proper flow sizing, lamp and sleeve maintenance and correct installation. It does not remove hardness, iron or sediment.
Reverse Osmosis
Used for: point-of-use drinking-water treatment when selected for specific dissolved contaminants. Membrane choice, pressure, pretreatment, recovery and laboratory results matter. Broad “removes everything” claims are not responsible system design.
Well Chlorination
Used for: well and plumbing disinfection when bacterial conditions or system work justify it. The well volume, plumbing, contact time and follow-up testing must be considered; adding bleach without a procedure is not a complete treatment plan.

Equipment we know, install and maintain

We are not tied to a single treatment formula. These are some of the professional components and media we may choose after evaluating the water and the home.

Clack WS1 & WS1EE ControlsUsed across many softening, neutralization and filtration applications. Valve programming and system sizing are matched to the treatment objective and available flow.
Purolite SSTC6000E ResinA preferred softening resin for many Well Pump Pro installations. Resin quantity, salt settings and regeneration frequency are based on tested hardness and household demand.
Katalox Light, Greensand Plus & BirmIron and manganese media are not interchangeable. pH, dissolved oxygen, oxidant conditions, contaminant loading and backwash flow determine which media can work.
Clack Hydro-Cure Cartridge TanksA modular option for sediment and carbon applications, with convenient bypass and flow-monitoring features. Cartridge type and micron rating are selected for the actual problem.
Ozone-Assisted AIOConsidered for selected sulfur, iron and manganese conditions. Successful performance depends on correct chemistry, air or ozone contact and sufficient backwash flow.
Professional UV SystemsUV is sized from peak flow and installed with the pretreatment it needs. Our experience includes the Neptune WTA-10 and VIQUA Certified Installer training.
